The LOLI Database LOLI is an extensive chemical regulatory database, designed to quickly and easily find information on specific chemicals, and regulations pertaining to chemicals. LOLI contains hundreds of thousands of chemicals from over 4280 lists as of the July 2012 update, as well as synonyms and molecular and struc-tural formulas with links to generic chemical groups. MEP Consults on 2 HJ Standards for Acute Lethal Toxicity and Bioconcentration Tests

In order to improve the official administration of environmental protection and regulate its environmental monitoring, the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) published in early July two draft HJ (standing for environmental protection) standards on freshwater fish acute lethal toxicity determination and bivalve mollusk bioconcentration tests. The two draft standards have respectively adopted ISO 7346-2:1996 and ASTM E1022-94.

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. It is not a regulation or a standard, it is an approach to:   Defining health, physical and environmental hazards of chemicals; Creating classification processes that use available data on chemicals for comparison with the defined hazard criteria; and Communicating hazard information, as well as protective measures, on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).   Countries can choose to implement GHS in its entirety or implement only certain parts (“building block” approach), develop or modify existing national programs that address classification of hazards and transmittal of information about those hazards and associated protective measures. Classification, Labelling and Packaging

What’s CLP The CLP Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) is the new European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures (preparations). This Regulation entered into force on 20th January 2009. CLP Regulation will replace Directive 67/548/EEC (short as DSD) relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances as well as Directive 1999/45/EC (short as DPD) relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous preparations. It introduces in the EU new criteria for classification and labelling, based on the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System (UN GHS).
