On February 3, 2023, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment released a notice to make public Shanghai’s list of new pollutants subject to priority management, which was formulated based on the national list – List of New Pollutants for Priority Management (2023) and Shanghai’s Workplan for New Pollutants Treatment. On February 18, 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Ministry of Environment (MoE) consulted on a ban on the manufacture and import of PFHxS and its salts and the import of some product types containing them via a partial revision to the Enforcement Ordinance of the Chemical Substance Control Law (CSCL).
