China GHS will affect both Chinese and non-Chinese companies dealing with hazardous chemicals in China. All companies placing hazardous chemicals on the Chinese market are currently required to provide labelling and safety data sheets (SDS) in line with China GHS national standards for the chemicals from 1 May 2011. An appropriate emergency telephone number inside China mainland is also required in the SDS and label. Moreover, non-Chinese companies will be included in addition to Chinese companies who require registration of hazardous substances in the revised Decree (No. 591).
