CHINA REACH In-Focus

The Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) promulgated Decree No. 7 – ‘Measures on Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances’ (also known as 'China REACH’) in 2009, has already come into force since 15 October 2010.

Every actor in the supply chain of new chemicals (the substances are not listed in IECSC) is affected by the Measures, including manufacturers and importers and downstream users.

They need to submit new chemical substance notification dossiers to the CRC-MEP before these substances can be offered on the Chinese market and there are strict penalties imposed for non-compliance.
