Korea Updates Toxic&Observational Substance Lists

Toxic Chemical Substances Act adds three substances to the toxic substance list; one to the observational substance list

From Chemical Watch news - The Korean Ministry of Environment has added three substances to the Toxic Chemical Substances List (TCSL) and one to the Observational Chemical Substances List (OCSL), both are part of the Toxic Chemical Substances Act (TCCA). The notices, which are published by the National Institue of Environmental Research (NIER), become effective one month following publication of the notice, or 27 January 2012.

 

Substances added to the TCSL are:

 

  • Triphenylsulfonium, 2- (trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonate(1:1)and mixtures containing 25% or more of substance;
  • 2,2,3,3,4,4-Hexafluoro-4-[(trifluoroethenyl)oxy]butanoic acid, methyl ester homopolymer, hydrolysed and mixtures containing 25% or more of substance;
  • N,N'-Bis(4-aminophenyl)-N,N'-dimethylethylenediamine and mixtures containing 25% or more of substance.

 

The three substances have also been added to the country’s GHS classification list, with immediate effect. The list, which provides classification, CAS and Korea-specific TCCL identification numbers, signal words, pictograms, H codes and M factors, became mandatory on 1 July 2011.

     

The substance added to the OCSL is 1,3,5-tri-2-propenyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione polymer with 2,4,6,8-tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane, Si-[3-(2-oxiranylmethoxy)propyl] derivatives and mixtures containing 25% or more of substance.
