2300 Phase-ins to be Registered by 2013

ECHA advises potential registrants and downstream users to consult the list for registration conditions or prospect of their substances

6 February 2012

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published on 3 February a list of 2300 phase-in substances that will be registered for the first time by the 2013 deadline. Two thirds of the listed substances have incurred 1583 Lead Registrants so far. But Lead Registrant (including candidates) names for 2013 and 2018 deadlines are not disclosed yet.

This second REACH deadline of 31 May 2013 concerns all potential registrants of phase-in substances if they manufacture or import them in the EU in quantities reaching 100 tonnes or more per year. Companies who intend to register by 2013 may also consult the list to weigh the registration prospect of their substances. This list is also useful for downstream users to know whether the substance they use has already been registered or is expected to be registered by 2013. However, as the list is not linked to the specific uses of their substance, downstream users are still advised to contact their suppliers and to communicate their specific uses to make sure they will be covered in the chemical safety assessment and exposure scenarios associated with a registration.

ECHA will update the list on a monthly basis and would like to invite any potential registrant to inform ECHA by answering its survey. ECHA also advises newly nominated Lead Registrants to notify by submitting the updated webform.
