China Cosmetics Labelling
In the Euramerican cosmetics market, full ingredients labelling has been required for cosmetic products for years. But in China, this provision only came into force on 17th, June, 2010.
According to the instruction for use of consumer products - General labeling for cosmetics (GB5296.3-2008), after 2 years of transitional period, all cosmetic products in China (either manufactured or imported after 06/17/2010) should label all the ingredients clearly. The foreign name of ingredients should be translated into Chinese based on INCI Chinese version (2010) issued by SFDA in September 2010. If an ingredient does not find a match in INCI Chinese version (2010), then it should refer to Chinese pharmacopoeia (2010), chemical names or botanical names in turn.
